Rockin’ BLOCK PARTY
“Downtown is Alive at Night”
Saturday evening, May 24, MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
MUSIC begins at 7pm

Everybody’s getting excited about the great kick-off for summer. There are plans to have FOUR LIVE BANDS on the downtown streets. Back by popular demand, 96.5 House Band in front of Pheasant Hill, the Viking Jazz Band from Cerro Gordo, NC near Earthworks Gallery, Empty Slate, punk rock alternative near Headlights and Five Pound Fire, homegrown rock and roll, near Sweet Onion on Miller Street. All music starts at 7 pm. A portion of Main Street will close from 5:30-10:30pm from Church St. to just past the Justice Center. Miller St will be closed off also for the band and corvettes.

Remember to move vehicles off Main St. to side streets. A Children’s area with a variety of games and art will be in front of Fun Things, etc. toy store.

The CORVETTES are asking to come back after enjoying the evening so much last year. They are a part of the Vettes in the Valley event in Maggie Valley. They will only be allowed to park on Depot St., in front of the courthouse on Main and on the Furniture Village side on Miller Street.

We have even more to Celebrate, it is our County’s Bicentennial. And Monday morning, we are honoring our veterans and our active servicemen and women with a PARADE down Main Street at 11 am. The Haywood County Commissioners will be parading as well.

YOU can help with efforts to aid victims around the world! Take your gently-used or new shoes to MAST GENERAL STORE through May 31st. “This is a great opportunity to involve MAST employees and folks in our community. “Most of us have shoes that are just taking up space in the bottom of our closets.” Since 2004, Soles4Souls has helped victims by providing one of the most basic needs of people. They will accept just about any type of shoe – boots, sandals, dress shoes, work boots, etc. Bind them together with rubber bands and place them in the Soles4Souls collection boxes at Mast on Main Street. HAYWOOD HEALTH CLINIC, PLLC is a unique addition to the health care services currently available in our county and especially to Downtown Waynesville. Owned & operated by a seasoned, Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, the clinic offers personalized, affordable primary care services to adults. The Nurse Practitioner’s goal is to be your Partner in Health. Charges range from $75 for a Comprehensive New Patient Visit, Annual Physical or Women’s Health Exam (which includes a Pap smear and breast exam), to $40 for a 20-30 minute follow-up or acute sickness visit, and $15 for a brief recheck. There are additional fees for lab tests or other procedures such as injections or breathing treatments. Simple lab tests can be done within the clinic, and we draw blood in our clinic to send out to LabCorps for other tests. While open to all, this clinic is ideal for people without health insurance who do not meet the income requirements for free services at the Good Samaritan Clinic, or reduced-fee services at the Health Dept. We do not participate in 3rd party insurance plans. Patients are given appropriate documentation of the services rendered if they are insured & wish to file their own claims. Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard & American Express. Our focus is on the patient as a ‘whole person’ and delivering the highest quality care.
