Antik Jeanie & Tim McBride recently opened a nice shop in beautifully remodeled building in our downtown shopping district at 172 N Main featuring imported Dutch Colonial era furniture & fair traded handicrafts from Bali & Java, just two of the many islands that form the Indonesian archipelago. The Dutch were in the Dutch East Indies from the late 16th century until the end of World War II -- shipping East Indies spices & their wood working craftsmanship around the world. Although Indonesia proclaimed their independence in 1946, and the Dutch returned to Holland, much of their colonial furniture, reclaimed and beautifully refinished, is still shipped to the Western World. Jeanie & Tim have been doing this for 15 years first in Beaufort SC.
After settling in Clyde in 2011, they decided to "do it again”. From teak dining tables, 50" to 120" long., old Teak cabinets, all sizes/shapes, that fit into any architectural style from beach modern to mountain classic. Handicrafts purchased from Bali & Java villagers that help provide them with a source of income & will provide you with inexpensive gifts for home, friends, & family. Silk scarves woven in Java, wooden carvings from Lomboc & Madura, placemats & woven baskets from the village of Tabanan in northern Bali. All unusual, unique a great value. For the Christmas holidays, Antik is serving wassail & Jeanie's home made cookies as a special holiday welcome. 828-246-0944 December holiday hours : Mon-Thur 10-6 Fri 10-7 Sat 10-8 Sun 12-6
