2008 Calendar of Events
Festivals, special events and performances are held frequently in downtown Waynesville, sponsored by the DOWNTOWN WAYNESVILLE ASSOCIATION and other area organizations.
MID MAY - OCT - every Wed-Sat, TAILGATE FARMER'S MARKET. Local growers set up in the parking lot of Badcock Home Furnishings to sell their fresh produce, plant & herbs throughout the summer & fall growing season. 8-Noon.
May - Nov - 1st Friday each month, "ART after DARK" - Downtown galleries remain open until 9 pm, demonstrations, artist receptions, live music.
Aug 29 - Sept 1 - Friday - Monday - SIDEWALK SALES downtown, Celebrating Labor Day Weekend
Aug 30 - Sat. - BLOCK PARTY, Downtown is Alive at Night, dancing in the street with live bands, music starts at 7pm, children's area, eats & treats, restaurants open, a portion of Main Street is closed.
Aug 29 & 30 - Fri & Sat - 37th annual SMOKY MOUNTAIN FOLK FESTIVAL. Two full evenings, celebrating our mountain folk music. Stuart Auditorium, Lake Junaluska

Oct 11- Sat - 25th annual CHURCH STREET ART & CRAFT SHOW. Main Street is transformed into an art & craft marketplace for this one-day event; widely know as one of the finest in the region. Live mountain music & clogging, entertainment & food. 10am-5pm.

Oct 18- Sat - 20th annual APPLE HARVEST FESTIVAL. Main Street. Live mountain music & dance, crafts, demonstration booths, apples, cider, fresh fried pies & other apple delicacies. 10am-5pm.

Nov 23 - Sun - "Holiday Open House". A Holiday Tradition on Main Street. Enjoy the sights, scents & sounds as the holiday season begins in festively decorated shops & galleries. Noon-5 pm
Dec 8 - Mon - Evening Christmas Parade in Downtown Waynesville - Main Street. 6pm
Dec 6 & 13, Sat evenings - "A Night before Christmas". Come share our Holiday Tradition with Us! Caroling, live music, a live Nativity, pictures with Santa, old-fashioned wagon rides, storytelling, poetry & more. Main Street is lined with hundreds of luminaries. Shops & restaurants open until 9pm.

Apr 25, Sat - "Quick Draw" Highly motivated live auction artists start & complete a work of art for sale. Silent auction items available also. Fundraising efforts support local art teachers who inspire seniors to pursue art in college.
